Chinese Young Pioneers organization has 114.8 mln members
BEIJING -- The Chinese Young Pioneers, a national mass organization for Chinese children, had about 114.8 million members across the country at the end of 2023, the Communist Youth League of China Central Committee said Saturday.
The CYP boasted 276,000 primary-level work committees, of which 190,000 were based in primary or middle schools, while 83,000 were set at the community level, said the CYLC.
The CYP serves as a reserve force to build socialism and communism as well as realize national rejuvenation. Since it was founded in 1949, the organization has played an important role in promoting children's growth under the Party leadership and the CYLC guidance.
All Chinese students aged between 6 and 14 years old can join the CYP.
Saturday marks International Children's Day.
